Design an online ticketing and event website for musicians in Japan
MY ROLE
User Research, Wireframing, Low Fidelity and High Fidelity Prototyping through
EMPATHISE. DEFINE. IDEATE. PROTOTYPE. TEST.
THE PROBLEM
THE GOAL
Too many platforms with generic events and music performances, meaning that people are continuously getting confused with what's happening. Missing events and not knowing when their favourite musician is playing.
To create a platform specifically for a few genres and only based in Japan to let people know of upcoming events with all their favourite musicians. Also a place to discover musician's new mixes and music.
USER QUESTIONS
-
How many times does the average person using this app go out to support local musicians?
-
How easy is the user flow?
-
Is there too much on the site that distracts the users from end goal?
PARTICIPANTS
-
A range of people living in Japan, spread out between Tokyo and Kyoto.
-
Age range 20-50
-
Mix of everyone who enjoys a good boogie
-
(10 Participants)
METHODOLOGY
-
30 minutes
-
Location: Online
-
Unmoderated usability study
-
Then will conduct a survey amongst 10 people to answer the research questions on May 9th 2021.
-
With this survey I will collect the data and analyse and synthesis
-
On May 9th, I will also interview 2 people to collect qualitative data to synthesis.
PAINPOINTS
Too many platforms that people are loosing track of where to look
Not all artists using the same platform making it confusing
Wanting to pre-purchase tickets so as not to think about it on the night
Wanting to know more about the other musicians playing on the night
PERSONAL STATEMENT
Henry is an avid event goer who would like a website that informs him of events and where he can buy tickets, because, there are too many platforms which makes life confusing.

WIREFRAMES
Simple wireframes to suggest what's in the works.
ANALYSING & SYNTHESIZE
After conducting research, I analysed and synthesized the findings to iterate on my designs and make them more functional for the user.
HIGH FIDELITY DESIGN
Responsive web design that leads the user on a journey from homepage to purchase whilst also being able to access account and new music of the week.
ACCESSIBILITY
Using icons within design but would still like to add more
Making the colour accessible. Providing very simple text and a lot of visuals.
A lot of different ways to navigate pages. This meaning to go back or forward there is more than one way in getting to where you need to be.
TAKEAWAYS
Impact:
"If this design could actually work and people used it- business owners and musicians, this would solve a lot of problems!"
What I learned:
I learnt how to create a responsive web prototype. Also through this project I learnt a lot more about the usability study section and had better practiced questions.
IMPROVEMENTS
To improve the site more and make it more accessible. With more icons to make navigation easier.
To add more sections on the website with more activities, but after more perfectioning.
Improve the UI design and generate something easier to look at.
